Almost two weeks old and our first Easter

Well our little guy turns two weeks tomorrow.  He has been to the doctor's office twice now and here is how his weight change has gone.  Born 7lbs 2 oz, next day 6lbs 13oz, two days later 6lbs 15 oz, and just yesterday he weighed in at 7lbs 13oz.  That means that I am producing milk just fine and he is eating like a champ.  Overall, he is a happy little kid and we are having so much fun with him.  There was a period of anxiety when we first brought him home but we are getting into a rhythm and feeling much more comfortable every day.
My mommy hormones seem to have leveled out, which is great because I was a bit of a mess with all the crying.  When we went to give him his first bath at home his umbilical cord got stuck on my tank top strap and no matter what we did to try and disconnect it the little thing ended up being pulled off of Greyson's tummy.  He cried for 5 seconds and was fine, I cried for a bit longer and was not fine.

Here are some pictures and videos of his second week of life and Easter at the Gaarde's house.

Trying to stay up on things when it might be the last thing on my mind

Trying out different holds

We like our boppy and our swing and our hands being up by our face at all times

Length comparison at exactly one week old

Second bath at home

I sure do love this kid

First Easter as a family

The very cuddly blanket made by Aunt Christina

Just trying to get some open eye pictures

Here is a video from after our first bath just because I wanted to document his adorable little body

Also, here is a link to the lullaby that Lars wrote for Greyson.  We recorded five songs for him but the other ones were just arrangements of other peoples' pieces.

Greyson Emery has arrived

The Changing of the Gaardes has officially begun.  Greyson Emery made his appearance on 4/15/11 at 9:03 PM.  We showed up at the hospital at 10AM on 4/14 because my water had broken and were sent home and told to return once we went into active labor or 7PM that night, which ever came first.

We waited for my mom to arrive from Port Orchard and headed over to the hospital at 7.  My contractions were 3-4 minutes apart but not painful so they put me on pitosin and they got pretty painful throughout the night.  I think at that point I was 75% effaced and only 1cm dilated.
At 7 that morning I received my epidural and almost passed out (oops) then started feeling better.

At around 5 we started pushing and that continued for 3 hours until the doctor decided that the baby's head was not going to come out because of the way it was positioned in my pelvis.  They had the head of the OB department come in and explain that we were going to need to use a vacuum, episiotomy and perhaps a c-section before we could meet our little man.  All very scary for me but after a little longer (and no c-section) Greyson was placed in my arms.

It was exhausting for everyone involved

He weighed in at 7lbs 2 oz and 18.5 inches

His first bath

He has had lots of visitors

And his grandma was with him his whole first week

Buffy seems interested but not too interested

And he played his first video game today

Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and kind words as we have moved into this new stage of life
